The Sycamore Vineyards
Fourteen years after introducing its first vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon, Freemark Abbey introduced a second Cabernet from a property with special qualities.

Sycamore Vineyards climbs a gently steepening slope to the top of the Napa Valley's most famous terrain for Cabernet, the Rutherford area. The property has belonged to Partner John Bryan and his wife, Flo, since 1976. Sycamore's 22 acres of vines are divided among Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.

If vineyards could be known by the company they keep, Sycamore would be in the front rank. Inglenook's home ranch, the dePins vineyard, and the Bosche family vineyard all lie just to the north. BV No. 2 – the current source of Beaulieu's Georges de Latour Reserve – is just south. Bella Oaks is a few dozen yards to the northeast. Sycamore Vineyards shares with these prized properties the easterly exposure that has yielded so many of the Cabernets on which Napa Valley's fame rests.

Sycamore Vineyards is yet another superior vineyard-designated wine from Freemark Abbey.
