Opaque dark ruby describes the color of this Oakville wine. Black currant and boysenberry notes dominate the aroma, with nuances of dark cherry, cocoa powder, new shoe leather, black pepper and forest floor. There is a complexity in the nose that hints of tobacco. The wine has great depth of black fruit flavor, with a strong expression of sweet black cherry and dark plum. This full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon has a smooth entry with well resolved tannins giving it structure yet a relatively soft finish.

Vineyard Notes

Oakville Reach—Oakville (100%): Located at the southern end of the Oakville AVA, to the east of Hwy 29 and just north of Yountville, the Oakville vineyard has gravelly alluvial loam soil, similar to the To Kalon vineyard on the west side of the Hwy. The climate is moderately warm in the afternoons, and strongly affected by the night and early morning fog, which helps to keep acidity levels in balance.

Production Notes

The 2015 winter was one of the driest on record for the Napa Valley. The region received 75% of normal precipitation. The relatively dry, warm winter promoted early bud break, and a cool spring supported a long flowering period. The balance of the season was moderate to warm, the crop was light, with small clusters and small concentrated berries, and the fruit ripened about two weeks early on average. A moderate harvest gave way to a warm spell that completed the ripening process a bit early.
