Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Image
Our Mount Veeder vineyard sits at 1800 feet elevation and contributes all the wonderful elements of mountain grown Cabernet to this wine. Our high elevation, low vigor site results in wine that is intense, rich and full of mountain character. The nose opens with aromas of dark chocolate, black pepper, carob, and blackberry. The palate is rich and savory with elements of road tar, bramble fruits, mountain sage, espresso and anise. The tannins are bold, indicative of its mountain origin, that are well integrated, rich and powerful now and will age well for decades.
Veeder Peak — Mt. Veeder (100%): This mountain top vineyard, in the Mt. Veeder appellation, produces dark fruit with tons of depth, extract and structure. The mountain topsoil is sedimentary, shallow, generally well drained, sandy loam in texture, uniquely mineral rich, and acidic with low fertility. With a cool climate in general, this mountain top vineyard is typically above the fog line. With warmer nights and cooler days than the valley floor, high temperatures usually top out at 85°F. This terroir develops small vines with low yields, small berries and very flavorful wines.
